Sue Moroney, sponsor of the Bill will be presented with thousands of signed postcards today, calling on John Key to invest in babies in their first year of life and not veto the Bill.
“The majority of New Zealanders support more paid parental leave to help strengthen families,” said Rebecca Matthews, 26 for Babies spokesperson.
“People recognise that this Bill is affordable and want to see it pass.”
“They want National to abandon it’s veto plans and support parents to provide more home based care in the first year of baby’s life.”
These postcards are the first step in a campaign to encourage National to support the Bill, which will be rolling out over the next few months. There is also an e-card running sending this message directly to John Key, over 2000 have been sent so far.
